Search

By selecting ‘Search’ you gain access to a search engine that allows you to search the Person records in the Database.

Enter the name for which you wish to search in the Surname box. Note that the search engine will only find names that match this spelling in the linked Person records; it does not search the original evidence records.

You can limit your search by selecting and completing one or more of the other five fields:

• . Date range. You may search for records in a period of 20 years or multiples of twenty years. Select the start and end dates from the drop-down menus.
• . Diocese. Select a diocese from the drop-down menu.
• . County. Select a county from the drop-down menu.
• . Location. Having selected either diocese or county, a drop-down menu will then allow you to select a specific location.
• . Location type. Select the location type from the drop-down menu.

After you click on the Search button, a list of all the Person records matching the search criteria will appear on the left hand side of the screen. When you click on the name that you wish to view, the Person record will appear on the right hand side of the screen.
