The diocese book compiled by Seth Ward
following his visitation of the diocese of Salisbury in 1680
contains information about the parishes of the diocese,
giving the name of the incumbent, whether a clergyman is
licensed to preach (most are), whether he is a pluralist,
the name of the curate (where one is employed), sometimes
the date of licensing of the curate, and occasionally other
miscellaneous information. All of this information has been
extracted. There are also details about the state of the
churches, which has not been extracted.
