s John of Oxford dr; EXETER m 29/1/1768 aged 17, BA 1771
Venn: M.A. from KING'S, 1784. Said to have been of Exeter College, Oxford, by F. L. Clarke (MS. in King's College, authority unknown). If so, probably identical with Andrew, John; matric. (Exeter College) Jan. 29, 1768, age 17; s. of John, of Oxford City, doctor. B.A. (Oxon.) 1771. Occurs in Cant. Act Bk. as Andrew, John, M.A. (King's) 1784; R. of Milton Damerel (1780-99) and also R. of Powderham, Devon, 1784-99. This man was doubtless the John Andrew, M.A., Preb. of Exeter, 1794-9 and Archdeacon of Barnstaple, 1798-9; died July 3 (? 10), 1799, aged 49. (Le Neve, Fasti Eccles., I. 408, 432; G. Mag., 1799, II. 629, where there is a discrepancy in dates.)
